Content for SEO – General Best Practices, Part II

Let’s us talk about targeted keywords. They help the engine to determine what the pages are about. When selecting your keywords, choose them based on search volume. The right keywords should help increase conversion.

When incorporating your keywords into your content, take care in measuring the density of the primary keyword. It should make up two to three percent of the page. That means, for every 400 words, it can be used up to twelve times. Also, use the exact keyword phrase for the primary keyword. For example, “Stephanie’s Interior Design” is not the same as “Interior Design by Stephanie.”

Here are some guidelines to keep in mind when writing content for your SEO friendly website.

The Variety of Your content should…

  1. Attract varied external links. These should be relevant and high quality links
  2. Be engaging
  3. Expand the diversity of keywords

Paragraph length is another element to look out for. It should be:

  1. Succinct, short, and thematic
  2. At most six lines or so in a single paragraph
  3. Not be arranged in large blocks of texts, as it would discourage viewers from reading
